What soft washing & render cleaning involves
Render, brick, stone, painted walls, fascias and soffits are the surfaces a pressure washer ruins fastest. They need a gentler approach, so we use low pressure plus a surface-safe treatment that kills algae, mould and green growth at the root rather than forcing water behind the finish. Silicone render, monocouche and K Rend all come up well this way, and so does old London stock brick, which stains green on the shaded side and goes patchy the moment anyone takes a jet wash to it. Most people book this as the whole outside of the house in one go, walls, fascias and soffits together, because the wall is only half of what you can see from the pavement. Cladding on a block or a commercial unit is a different job with different risks, so it has its own page.

Common questions.
How is soft washing different from pressure washing?
Pressure washing blasts dirt off hard surfaces. Soft washing uses low pressure plus a cleaning solution to break down algae and mould, which is safer for render, brick and paintwork and tends to keep them clean for longer.
Can you soft wash brickwork, or only render?
Brick too, and it is one of the better reasons to soft wash rather than jet wash. Old London stock brick is soft and porous, so pressure takes the face off it and leaves a patchy, blotchy finish that looks worse than the algae did. Low pressure and the right treatment lift the growth and the staining without touching the brick itself. Panel cladding on a block or a commercial unit is a separate job, on its own page, because the joints and gaskets need a different approach.
Will it harm my plants?
We take care to protect planting and rinse the surrounding areas. The treatments are applied carefully and under control, so borders and beds are looked after while we work.
How long does it stay clean?
Usually a good two to three years on render and brick, though it depends on how much sun and airflow the wall gets. A north-facing wall under trees goes green again faster than a south-facing one, because the growth we treat needs damp and shade to come back. Because we kill it at the root rather than washing it off the surface, it returns slowly rather than all at once.
