What hard floor cleaning & polishing involves
Tile, stone, marble, vinyl and sealed concrete lose their finish to grime, scratches and worn-out sealer, and the usual reason is mopping. A mop moves the soil around and pushes it into the grout lines and the surface texture, which is why a floor can be cleaned every day and still look grey. We strip it back with a rotary machine and hot water under pressure with vacuum recovery, so the soil leaves the building rather than being spread thinner, then polish or reseal depending on what the floor is.
A lot of this work is commercial: offices, units, showrooms, retail floors, communal areas and washrooms, where the floor has had years of maintenance cleaning and never a restoration. We quote it as a one-off job and work out of hours where that suits you better, because it is easier for everyone and the floor needs time to dry. If the result needs holding for a few years, resealing is the part that does that, and we will tell you honestly whether yours needs it.
Marble, terrazzo and polished stone are their own discipline. Etched and worn stone is a mechanical job rather than a chemical one, honing the surface back and re-polishing it through the grits, and no amount of product will substitute for that.

Common questions.
Can you restore dull or scratched marble?
Yes, marble can be polished back to a clear shine and minor scratches reduced. Deeper damage may need more work, which we'll assess and explain first.
Do you reseal floors after cleaning?
We can strip back old sealer and apply a fresh seal, which protects the floor and makes future cleaning easier. It's quoted based on the floor and its size.
Do you do commercial floors, or only houses?
Both, and commercial is a good part of it. Offices, units, showrooms, retail floors, communal areas and washrooms. We work out of hours where that suits you, which usually suits us too because the floor needs drying time. It is priced as a one-off restoration rather than a maintenance contract, so it is the job you book when the floor has been mopped for five years and stopped responding to it.
Why does my floor still look grey when it gets mopped every day?
Because mopping is the cause rather than the cure. A mop lifts a little soil and redistributes the rest, and what it redistributes settles into the grout lines and the surface texture where a mop cannot reach. That is why daily mopping can leave a floor looking progressively duller. Getting it back needs a machine that agitates the surface and a vacuum that removes the water and the soil together, which is a different job from cleaning it.
Can you clean vinyl and safety flooring?
Yes. Vinyl, safety flooring and sealed concrete all respond well, and vinyl in particular often just needs the old polish stripped off rather than anything aggressive. Worth saying that some safety flooring is deliberately textured and will never look glossy, so the honest result is clean rather than shiny.
